Gun Control
Jill Stein believes we as a country need an assault weapons ban, however that's not the only thing that should be done (www.ontheissues.org) There are nearly 260 people everyday who are injured or killed by gun violence (www.ontheissues.org). Local communities need to regulate guns, to deal with their violence(www.ontheissues.org). Jill said we need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals(www.ontheissues.org). We need background checks, so that the mentally ill are not possessing and using guns(www.ontheissues.org). In addition we need to end the gun show loopholes(www.ontheissues.org). It's an enormous public health problem in our cities--there are tragedies every day where young people are being shot, as victims of gun crimes (www.ontheissues.org). Stein called for strengthening the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 requiring licensed firearm dealers to do background checks for handgun sales though the FBI’s NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check), and re-instituting waiting periods(www.Jill2016.com). She would also renew and strengthen the Assault Weapons (AW) Ban of 1994 banning some semiautomatic firearms and most ammunition feeding devices holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition(www.Jill2016.com). Jill wants to specify that it's not she believes nobody should have a gun, however that public safety should be a factor in decisions(www.ontheissues.org).
